(From Dagenham and Redbridge programme 2005/06)
In December last year, the Daggers snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. The Grecians took the lead when Santos Gaia headed home Jeannin's comer. Five minutes later it was 0-2, Gareth Sheldon applying a great finish to a fine City move. The Daggers hauled themselves back into the game on 22 minutes when Janney's cross flicked off a City defender and dropped to Craig Mackail- Smith on the edge of the area who fired home. Ten minutes after the restart the home side equalised from a Chris Moore penalty after Jeannin was judged to have pushed Moore in the box. The game turned on a second penalty decision with 20 minutes left in the game. This time Martin Rice brought down Mackail-Smith who was through on goal. The Exeter stopper was shown the red card by referee Beck for denying a clear goal scoring opportunity and on came sub keeper 18 year old Paul Jones for his Grecians debut. Moore's second spot kick was saved by Jones as he pushed it round the post. In the 81st minute, against the run of play, Wayne O'Sullivan was allowed room to tum and he found the bottom corner of Tony Roberts goal with a great left footed finish to give the visitors all three points despite having only 10 men.
