Match 52
12th April 2005
Dagenham & Redbridge (h)
Exeter 1
Dagenham & Redbridge 1
The last meeting was in March (the game was played in April) this year at St James Park. With just 11 minutes on the clock, Exeter got their noses in front when the ball was played into the area from Jeannin to Lee Phillips. He brought the ball under control with his chest and was then challenged by Scott Griffiths, the ball falling to Kwame Ampadu who smashed the ball into the roof of the net. From then on it seemed only a matter of time before the home side extended their lead with Taylor, Sheldon and Buckle all making Roberts pull off saves. The second half continued to see the home side dominate with poor finishing and Tony Roberts being the only reason the score was kept at 1-0. Three minutes into the four added on by the referee, the Daggers won a free kick just inside their own half. Roberts launched the ball into the Exeter area it fell to Scott Griffiths on the left. He crossed and the Tony Boot managed to get his head on it and direct it into the bottom comer of the net for an equaliser. There was still time for one more chance, and a superb save by Roberts from Jeannin's header just before the final whistle clinched a point for the Daggers.
