League Cup first round.

Ipswich manager George Burley upsets Foxy, prior to the Worthington cup tie, by branding us a 'long ball' team. "I wouldn't say we were a direct side" says Fox "I don't know where he got that from". Watching Blake and Gittens at Swansea perhaps ?? City reveal that the majority of fans have come out in favour of the proposed redevelopment of St James Park. Meanwhile, on the pitch, we get a creditable 1-1 draw against Ipswich. Ashley Bayes gives away an early penalty, only to redeem himself by saving it, and producing a string of fine stops. Ipswich took a deserved lead after 13 minutes through Holland with a powerful header, and continued to dominate the first half. The second period saw City pose more threat as the visitors sat back, and livened up considerably when Steve Flack replaced Glen Crowe, and were rewarded with a great strike from Jon Richardson (restored to the team, albeit in midfield) from Flacky's knock down.

City indulge in a little post match wind up saying things like they don't frighten us' and We spotted a few weaknesses' etc. Lets wait for the second leg boys. Attendance 3233-it looked a lot more!
