Match 27
24th March 2005
Dorchester Town (h)
Thursday 24th March 2005
South West Women's Football league Premier Division
Exeter City Ladles 9
Dorchester Town 1
Following recent form City went into this game full of confidence, and this showed from the offset. City dominated play from the beginning and as a result took the lead after just 6 minutes, when Emma Redwood perfectly lobbed the keeper in fine style for her first goal of the season.
The Grecians continued to press and scored a second after 22 minutes. A through ball from Tracey Cross found Jo Goldsworthy, who turned her player with ease and scored with a fierce low drive.
City were playing the ball around the pitch with ease, and largely dominating possession and play throughout. They scored once more when a saved Goldsworthy strike was picked up after quick thinking by Redwood, who lobbed a host of defenders to put City three up at half time.
The second half was much the same as the first, and City were on fire. Minutes into the second half prolific goalscorer Goldsworthy scored a sublime goal, smashing an unstoppable strike from 30 yards into the top corner leaving the 'keeper flapping. Minutes later Goldsworthy completed her hat trick, when she latched onto a through ball from Kelly Hall, went past two players and drilled the ball past the keeper in fine style. City continued to press and Goldsworthy scored her fourth of the night on 60 minutes, running onto another through ball, this time from Stacey Pearson, and rounding the 'keeper with ease.
