Match 09
07/10/2004
League
Buckfastleigh Rangers (Away)
Wednesday 6 October 2004
SWWFL- Premier Division
Buckfastleigh Rangers 0 Exeter City Ladies 4
This was a game that City dominated from start to finish, playing some excellent passing football. City were totally encamped in the Buckfastleigh half and the only thing missing from the first 45 minutes was a goal. The Grecians again started strongly in the second half and got their reward after 5 minutes, when Jo Goldsworthy took the ball one on one with the keeper, cooly slotting it home to put City ahead. City continued to press, when Goldsworthy picked up the ball on the half way line, went round two players and ran down the line to put in an inch perfect long range cross to Becky Folds. Folds bravely challenged the keeper and finished well to put City two ahead. City continued to dominate the game and through great build up play, Stacey Pearson increased Exeter's lead. Shortly afterwards new player Tracey Cross scored the fourth in great style, with a fine turn and powerful curled shot into the top corner,
Manager Steve Mclear said: "This was the best performance of the season so far. We played some neat passing football and everyone's attitude was spot on. Now after two wins the players' self belief is shining through and we should be able to build on this. I'm very pleased with the performance and very proud of my players."
