MATCH REPORT
SOUTHAMPTON SAINTS 0
EXETER CITY LADIES 1

Exeter City Ladies continued their fine run of league form by defeating Southampton Saints by the narrowest of margins - a goal by Kirsty Caunter giving the Grecians a 1-0 win. The result solidified their place in sixth position in the South West Combination table though the division makes for difficult reading at the moment, as some teams have up to six games in hand over others, following a wash-out winter schedule.

City might have taken the lead at Locks Heath on a number of occasions in the opening ten minutes - however the woodwork kept out prolific striker Tash Knapman on no less than three occasions, leaving the Ladies wondering what they needed to do to score. And despite dominating possession and chances, it wasn't until the last quarter of the game that Exeter finally broke the deadlock through Caunter. The Saints showed late signs of life in the final minutes, threatening to grab an equaliser, but Exeter held firm for all three points from their trip to Hampshire.

The result kept up their record of having lost just twice since September, the most recent coming against table toppers Keynsham Town in mid-February.
