LARKHALL ATHLETIC END CITY'S UNBEATEN RUN

Exeter City Ladies travelled to Larkhall to face their league rivals. Larkhall were situated at the top of the South West Womens Premier League dispite City beating them 1-0 in their previous clash.

With two games in hand, City were looking to cement their title bid with a second win. The previous weekend saw the Ladies progress into First Round proper of the FA Cup with a 4-0 victory over Keynsham Town at St James Park. An away trip to Swindon Town now awaits for Steve Tully's side. Both teams started strongly with City having the majority of possession in the first 20 minutes. The deadlock was broken on the half hour mark, when a deflected Larkhall cross fell to their striker at close range. Larkhall continued to dominate play for the remainder of the first half.

Exeter, determined not to be beaten, started the stronger of the two teams in the second half. Natalie Shenton's run down the left wing almost sent City level when her shot went just wide. City again applied pressure, with Kirsty Caunter being denied when her header was saved from a Naomi Wilkins free kick.

Chasing the game, manager Steve Tully made several changes replacing Helen Kukor with Marika Ghiglia and Natalie Shenton with Carla Staddon. City have two games in hand over Larkhall and a higher goal difference of eleven goals.
