MATCH REPORT

Sunday 27th November

Pat Sowden Trophy Round Two

Central 0 Exeter City Ladies 1

The Grecians started the game as strong favourites to progress and while Central caused them problems in the fast-half, they eventually took control and a strike from Steph Matthews (photo) was enough for victory McLear said: 'It was always destined to be a closely fought match as local debes often are. We were very much under pressure to get a result and we did just that "It wasn't the best perfomance we've had all season, we know we are capable of berter but the girts worked hard and battled throughout to clinch an important result for us. The best chance of an even first half fell to Central's Kyle Mckie but she somehow managed to five wide when just a few yards out. Alter the break City enjoyed the vast majority of possession, and look a deserved lead on the four when Matrews unleashed a powerful strike that the goalkeeper could only parry into the net.

Late on Cty were given a boost when Danielle Pearson made her long-awaited comeback from a knee injury
