Match Report from Clevedon Mercury.
The home side started positively and Ronnie Spiller almost scored on the break after eight minutes but Clevedon did take the lead three minutes later when Spiller and Leanne Pook combined enabling Vicky Davis to score from close range. Clevedon goalkeeper Gemma Treanor made a sequence of fine saves but gradually the Elmore pressure began to tell. They led 2-1 at the break and scored four more during the second half as Clevedon began to tire. Sub Joy Fursman went close to scoring on her introduction and Treanor made more crucial saves, Jo Birth also having an impressive game at centre back.
And From Dave Dibble in the Frome match day programme
We have had an excellent start to the season with two straight wins against AFC Clevedon away 6-1 (Anita Carroll 3, Danielle Woodbury 2, Kate Newton) and last sunday at home to Weston Super Mare we had an impressive 10-1 victory (Anita Carroll 4, Danielle Woodbury 2, one apiece for Kate Newton and Sarah Diplock who was also named player of the match, and two goals by Maxine Badcock who came on as a second half substitute following her return from a Knee Operation.
It is very pleasing to see the new players playing in their first season adapting so well and hopefully they will continue to impress.
