Biographical Text

Kye Cooper, a left-sided full-back/wing-back from Yeovil, signed for Exeter City as a scholar/trainee after finishing school in 2023. He had been with the club’s academy since the under-14 category following the closure of Yeovil Town’s programme.

An under-16 player at the time, he had started to appear for the under-18s in the Youth Alliance in the early months of 2023 together with fellow future-trainee George Birch who had also been at Yeovil. Commencing his scholarship in July 2023, Kye was an unused substitute for the club's FA Youth Cup tie against Hemel Hempstead Town in November 2023.

Moving into his second full-time season with City, Kye joined Poole Town on a 'work experience' basis in July 2024 but was injured on his return to Exeter and rarely featured for the under-18s during the first-half of the new season prior to making appearances during the team's FA Youth Cup campaign and spending time on loan at Shaftesbury.
