Match 30
24th February 1915
Brighton (H)

EXETER IMPROVE.
BRIGHTON & HOVE BEATEN BY A GOAL
EXETER CITY. 1
BRIGHTON & HOVE 0
Exeter City, who defeated Brighton and Hove by a goal to nil in the Southern League yesterday, at Exeter could scarcely be recognised as the same side as that which lost to Luton four days before. Their forwards showed up to good purpose, and if they could not always kick hard, they could at least shoot straight. The combination, too, was vastly improved, and all through the first half Exeter were pressing. They were more than value for the goal by which they led at the interval. The point was obtained by Lovett from a corner. Brighton developed, aggression in the second half. Longstaff and Jones were often prominent, while Tyler finished better than he began. As a combination, however, the side wanted pulling together. One move by Woodhouse, Longstaff, and Colman was good enough for a score. Exeter pressed again in the last fifteen minutes, and deserved their victory.
