EXETER CITY 2,

Scorers Brighton Mundy, Small, Exeter City Currie, Churns, Attendance 16,036, Forget Exeter City's display on the opening day of the season, put the sight of City struggling to a humiliating defeat right out of your minds, Try instead to picture éleven men in red and white playing and fighting as a team and doing it so well that the almost unbeatable at home Brighton team were lucky and thankful to get away with a draw, Lucky, for City were the better team for much of the game,

Exeter's goals came when Churms' defelected a Simpson drive into the net and Currie scored from Calland's centre. There was some doubt about Brighton's first goal in the 55th minute, Mundy looked three yards offside, Their equalising goal came four minutes from time, Hunter punched out Howard's drive, the ball fell at the feet of Small who drove it through a packed goalmouth into goal, The point itself is valuable, The effect that it should have on the players confidence is enourmous. The defence looked unbelievably strong with Harvey, MacDonald, Simpson and Lightly doing their job superbly undoubtably Calland who was strong and fast and by no means unskilful, was City's star man.
