One more point for Exeter City but it should and could have been two. A dreary first half with a gusty wind making the ambling, rambling football even worse than it need have been and it ended non too soon for anybodyNeither side looked particularly constructive nor dangerous, though Barris hit a upright with a header on the stroke of half time, When the second half started City were constructive for 15 minutes, they looked capable of winning. Robinson saw his header brilliantly saved, then came disaster for Newport, Calland charged the goalkeeper Weare, who dislocated his right shoulder and had to go off. Sherwood went in goal and that should have been the signal for City to shoot, shoot and keep shooting but they didn't. Only twice did shots of any note threaten the Newport goal, one from Wilson the other from Rees, The disappointedThe defence was sound without looking unbeatablecoll without being clever. Butterworth had another grand game, a valuable point, but it should have been two.
