Plymouth Argyle top of the table, certainly did not display any top of the table characteristics and Exeter City certinly have no reason to pat themselves on the back eitherThe truth of the matter is that in a drab, colourless Devon derby, Argyle were undoubtedly the better of two nowhere near thrilling teamsFor all but very early and very late spells Plymouth did almost as they wished. Their defence was compact and their midfield football completely out of City's class, but their finishing was appalling.. Argyle's forwards were as appalling as City's general display so their only goal came in the 50th minute from a Langman header. Other chances were missed by Waterman, he shot wide from twelve yards and then lifted the ball sky high over the crossbar, There was not one atom of understanding or teamwork in the whole City attack, behind these no hope forwards the defence got through a lot of work, but in a rugged and disjointed wayThere was certainly nothing sytematic about City's defensive display.
