Exeter City are out of the F.A.Cup, They were beaten, disgraced and degraded by Bath City. The biggest difference between the sides were fight, determination and spirit. Bath had it, so much that they played as if winning was the most important thing in their lives, City had as much fight as a cream puff and not even in the last 15 minutes with Bath leading did the idea seem to creep into their minds that they must do something fast to avoid ending, the Wembley trail on the day that they started it, Only in one spell did the City look like a Third Division side playing a side usually taken care of by their reserve sideThat was in the last few minutes of the first half after Calland had equalised Boseley's 11th minute goalWhen they went in at half time the general feeling was that Bath had lost their chance, but they had not for in the second half it was all Bath.
Bath looking far more like a team than the aimless, ambling, awkward, no ambition City and going grimly for each ball, tackling hard, looking for a win. Rewardd came in the 75th minute, Hayward's free Rick was met by Barnstaple born Pickard who shot into the net to send the Bath supporters wild,
Only the efforts of Churms, the occasional trickery of Dale in midfield relieved City's forward monotony. Only Hunter, John and Butterworth saved the pitifully panicky defence from going right under. The City players walked off the pitch with their heads hung in shame.
