Reading Anderton, Whitehouse

A much improved City display which was workmanlike and seemed practically certain to save a point until the 61st minuteThe strong, smooth moving Reading side had most of their moves halted before they became too dangerous and City must have surprised everyone by the way they worked purposefully, often cleverly forward,

A draw looked certain, then over came a corner, Bell punched the ball out and Reading right half Anderton lofted the ball into the net. That set Reading going and a second goal followed in the 74th minute by WhitehouseThe fact remains that this was a greatly improved City performance, the best for weeks. The defence was sound although Harvey is struggling through a bad patch,

The forward line frequently moved smartly with Rees and Nicholls the best. City's new signing is strong, fast and can shoot. He looks as if he could score a lot of goals, Taking 46 points as a safety limit for a further stay in the Third Dvision, City need 33 points from their remaining 27 games.
