The tale grows longer. The tale of grim, gloomy games and of the growing familiarity of Exeter City's very own spot at the bottom of the Third Dvision,
The only goal of the game came 15 minutes from time, Ex Torquay winger Tony Collins crossed the ball from the left to the right to Harrison who shot past Bell's flailing arms into the roof of the net, 75 minutes gone mind you, before Palace scored with their first shot worth mentioning at City's goal,
That shows quite clearly that the City should not have lost and when it is added that once City had broken Palace's midfield hold they slammed in shot after shot, it becomes more obvious that there should have been a little more sparkle in the gloom. Because although Palace looked a much livelier side in midfield for most of the game it was City who looked like scoring,
Nicholls had his best game for City, he had several good efforts blocked or sent inches wide. Hardest luck of all went to Rees who hit the inside of an upright before the ball was cleared. Once again City looked like a collection of individuals rather than a team.
