A new manager/coach, practically a new team and some new hope, but the same old performance and the same old result from yet another Exeter City match. That just about sums up City's latest defeat in a long list and the reasons for the defeat have hardly changed a lot. A never too safe defence using the ball badly had its job doubled by a bunch of forwards who challenged for the ball as often as they had the ball in the Newport net.
The only exception in a poor forward line was Calland, he tried to get to every ball and through his efforts, often made bad passes look good ones, The other forwards stood so idly by that whenever the men behind them made a faulty pass no one could fail to see it,
The points were safely on the way back to Newport when Dixon slammed in the first goal in the 46th minute, Harris made certain of the points with a goal ten minutes from time. When the City defence had weaknesses at both fullback positions and Mitchell had his worst game for ages, the battle then being nearly won for the opposition. Some sympathy for Frank Broome who still has to find the strength of the other players on his staff and then make more changes,
