CITY RELEASE FIVE.
Exeter City have retained eleven players for next season, and released another five on free transfers, fewer than some supporters anticipated, A sixth player, Dennis Coughlin, on loan from Swansea Town, is not being signed and is returning to the Welsh club. Manager Frank Broome has already made approaches for players for next season, including two Plymouth Argyle men, former City goalkeeper, Peter Shearing, and John Mitten,

CITY'S NEW LOOK.
There will be a new look about Exeter City next season, or rather an old look. They are going back to their former colours of red and white stripes, The shorts will be red. The change colours will be blue and white stripes and blue shorts, Last season's strip of all white clashed far too often with other teams, hence the reason for the change.

ARNOLD MITCHELL IN HOSPITAL.
Arnold Mitchell who will be remembered for a long time for his services at St James' Park is in the Princess Elizabeth Orthapaedic Hospital in Exeter recovering from a cracked tibia. He received the injury while playing for Taunton Town at Yeovil on Good FridayHis leg was put in plaster but then he had to go to hospital for an operation, Mitchell was of course with Exeter City for 14 years and this season joined Taunton Town but in his 9th game for the club he received this injury. He has been in hospital for three weeks, but is cheerful as ever and making progress.
EXETER AGREE TERMS WITH KIRKHAM AND SHEARING.
Exeter City have agreed terms for two players for next season, One is wing half, John Kirkham, 6' 1" tall, who has been with Peterborough United for the last three seasons. He is 27, a former England Under 23 International and he had seven seasons with Wolverhampton Wanderers, prior to joining Peterborough, The second signing is well known to Exeter City followers. He is goalkeeper Peter Shearing Plymouth Argyle who rejoins City for a second spell at the club. He originally signed for Exeter in the Summer of 1964 from Portsmouth, and was later transferred to Argyle with Alan Banks,

JOHN MITTEN TO JOIN EXETER CITY.
Another player has agreed terms to come to Exeter City. He is Plymouth Argyle's John Mitten, whose name has been linked with City for some time, It was no surprise when it was confirmed yesterday at St James' Park that he has agreed to join the club Mitten is the son of the famous, Charlie Mitten, the one time Manchester United and England winger. Like his father John is also a winger, he made a number of first team appearances for Plymouth Argyle since joining them in January 1967 from Coventry City for a £5,000 fee,
WEDNESDAY 26th JUNE 1968.
DICK MILLER FEARED KILLED IN CAR CRASH.
Mr Richard Miller, the secretary of Exeter City Football Club for three years, is believed to have been killed in a road accident in the Midlands. Miller, 33, was on a secretary's course at Lilleshall and the accident occured at 10.06pm, last night on the A5 at Stretton, Staffordshire, It is understood that identification will be made today. Three vehicles were thought to have been involved and Miller was one of four persons travelling in one of the cars. Plymouth Argyle secretary, Graham Little, was the driver of the car and he was detained in hospital with arm and back injuries, and is said to be very poorly. Miller was appointed secretary at St James' Park in February 1965, His first full time job in soccer came when he was appointed the club's fund raiser the previous October. He has always followed the club and was connected with it through his father, Charlie Miller, a former full back and captain of Exeter City,

A GREAT LOSS TO EXETER CITY.
Mr Dick Miller who was killed in a road accident in the Midlands will be remembered for his dedication and enthusiasm at St James' ParkExeter City meant a great deal to him and as the club chairman Les Kerslake said in a tribute; "His death is a great loss to the club. It is a terrible shock to evryoneApart from his ability as secretary, we shall miss his great enthusiasmhe was very concientious in everything he did. The question of hours never bothered him as long as he was doing something for Exeter City."

TESTIMONIAL MATCH FOR DICK MILLER.
Exeter City's board of directors have agreed to stage a testimonial match for the widow and family of Dick Miller, tragically killed in a road accident this weekChairman Les Kerslake said the club were now working on arrangements to stage this game.

SHEARING AND KIRKHAM JOIN THE CITY STAFF.
Exeter City today made their first signings for the 1968-69 seasonThe two players involved are Peter Shearing, a goalkeeper from Plymouth Argyle, and Peterborough United wing half John Kirkham, Both players previously agreed terms with the City. A third signing is expected tomorrow, that of John Mitten of Plymouth Argyle,

MITTEN IS THIRD SIGNING.
As expected Exeter City completed their third close season signing today, Winger and midfield player John Mitten from Plymouth Argyle, Mitten had previously agreed terms with City and completed the move today, He joined Plymouth Argyle in January of last year from Coventry City for £5,000He joins City on a free transfer, Last season Mitten made 23 appearances for Argyle,
WEDNESDAY 3rd JULY 1968.
WHATLING IS HAPPY NOW.
Exeter City left winger Keith whatling who went into hospital last week for a cartilage operation on his left knee limped into St James' Park today on crutches, He said that at last everything seems to have cleared up and he expects to be back in full training in about 6 weeks.
FRIDAY 5th JULY 1968.
DAVID PLEAT SIGNS AS A WINGER.
Former England Youth International David Pleat, 23, a winger from Shrewsbury Town, today became the fourth player to sign for Exeter City in the close seasonPreviously he was with Luton Town and Nottingham Forest, joining Luton for £8,000. He arrived at Exeter on a free transfer after making a number of appearances for Shrewsbury,
SATURDAY 6th JULY 1968.
NEW BADGE DESIGN FOR CITY.
Many supporters forwarded ideas for the new Exeter City Supporters Club lapel badge, and it was finally decided to select a design depicting a Gull - representing the legendary Dido perched on a football on a shield shaped badge, the Supporters Club committee comnsidered it a very appropriate selection in view of the fact that the City will be reverting to the old style strip of red and white stripes.
