Biographical Text
Although goalkeeper Dave Collyer never appeared for Exeter City in the Football League - nor the FA Cup or the League Cup - he did play against Plymouth Argyle in the final of the Devon Championship Bowl alongside first-team regulars.
Then a student at St Luke's College, he deputised for John Smout in City's 2-0 Bowl win over Plymouth Argyle on 13 May 1968. Both City's goals were scored by Alan Banks as the Grecians lined up:
Collyer, Smyth, Balson, Newman, Harvey, Huxford, Corr, Banks, Curtis, Blain, Fudge.
Dave later played for Kingstonian, Woking and Sutton United before becoming assistant manager of Walton & Hersham. He died in Surrey in 2006 after suffering from a chronic illness for many years.
