Pre-season Calendar.

22 May 2023 

Head Groundsman Chaz Woolnough provided an update on the summer pitch renovation works, as him and his team gear up to get the surface ready for the 2023/24 season. The Exeter City Supporters' Club are holding their AGM on Thursday, June 8.

23rd May 2023

Gary Caldwell sat down to discuss City's pre-season schedule, which kicks off on July 7 at Tiverton Town. The Grecians will play eight matches across July, also playing; Mousehole, Bath City, Taunton, Torquay, Bristol City and Weston-super-Mare away from home, with one further match at St James Park to be announced at a later date. The players will also take part in a number of activities away from the pitch, with focus on resilience and team building. "The players will be back on Friday 23 June for testing over the weekend, then the real fun begins," Gary said. "We're 90% there with everything we're doing in pre-season. The first couple of weeks will be football conditioning so longer and slower running where we build a foundation for the players. After that it's the games programme where we will work on identity and how we want to be playing.

Exeter City Football Club is delighted to announce the renewal of the contract of EMS Waste Services as the back of shorts sponsor for the 2023-24 season. The family-owned company, which is based in Exeter, is one of the top waste management providers in the area.

Exeter City Football Club is delighted to announce a new partnership with Adidas who will become the club’s new kit supplier from the beginning of the 2023-24 season.

The three year deal will see the sportswear giant provide bespoke playing kits, along with training and replica kit for all teams within the club, the Academy and partner charity Exeter City Community Trust. And we’re in good company, in the 2023-2024 season, Adidas will provide kit for Arsenal, Bayern München, Juventus, Manchester United and Real Madrid. Alongside this arrangement, the club will partner with Devon-based Pro:Direct who will be the exclusive distributor of the new kit. The exciting deal means there will be three new shirts this year, which are due to be revealed at the beginning of July. Adidas take over as kit supplier from Spanish firm, Joma, who had been the kit supplier for the last 10 years.

1st June 2023

Exeter City Football Club were delighted to announce a partnership with Footasylum, the leading fashion and sportswear retailer, who will become the official new back-of-shirt sponsor. As part of the agreement, Footasylum, which has 60 stores across the UK, will feature across the upper back of all the match worn players’ shirts and all replica shirts for the 2023/24 season. The two season deal includes an option to extend for a third year.

2nd June 2023 

As our three-year front of shirt sponsorship contract with Carpetright comes to an end, we would like to put on record our thanks to the company for its support. The partnership saw Carpetright supporting our club through sponsoring both our men’s and women’s teams. In addition to this they generously gave to grass roots community clubs which, through our We Win You Win competition, saw them donating £500 to a local sports club every time Exeter City won a match – in all the donations totalled £15,000.

3rd June 2023

Exeter City's full 2023/24 pre-season schedule is locked in following confirmation of our final game of the summer at home to Coventry City on Saturday, July 29. Over three weeks, City will play eight matches against teams fom varying levels, as Gary Caldwell prepares his side for our second season in League One. Proceedings kick off at Tiverton Town on Friday 7 July, 7pm kick off, for our annual fixture, before the team head down to West Cornwall to face Mousehole AFCat Trungle Parc on Tuesday 11 July, 7.30pm. The fixture is part of two day camp in Cornwall, where the team will take part in surfing and team bonding activities.  On Saturday 15 July, 3pm, City head to Twerton Park to take on Bath City before a short trip to Taunton Town the following Tuesday, 18 July, 7.45pm.  For the second year in a row we will face Torquay United - on Saturday 22nd July, 3pm, before a double header on Tuesday 25 July.  First, we will travel to Bristol City in a behind-closed-doors fixture at their training ground at 1pm, before we head back down the M5 to Weston-super-Marefor a 7.45pm kick off. Pre-season ends with a rare SJP home friendly, against Coventry City, on Saturday 29 July, 3pm.

The early bird window (for season tickets) has now slammed shut with record numbers of Grecians signing up for the 2023/24 League One season! An incredible 3220 of you took advantage of the early bird pricing and have guaranteed your admission to St James Park for the new campaign which kicks off in August. This is 120 up from last season's total of 3100 and again shows just how dedicated the red army are in backing their local club. We thank you for your support which makes a huge difference to how the club can perform.

The club were delighted to announce our new front of shirt sponsor – Exeter-based HEL Performance. The pioneering manufacturer and distributor of race-winning braking products and services for motorcycle riders and drivers, will see its brand emblazoned across Exeter City men’s and women’s team shirts and on all replica shirts from the 2023/24 season in the three-year deal.

7th June 2023

The Grecians' second League One season is just over two months away from kicking off, and to get you prepared we are taking a look at our opponents from next season with the line-up now confirmed. Seven new teams will be joining us in the third tier next season. Wigan Athletic, Blackpool and Readingwere relegated from the Championship. Leyton Orient, Stevenage and Northampton Town were the three automatic promotion winners from League Two, while Carlisle United were victorious at Wembley in the play-off final. Beginning with our longest journey, descending to our shortest, check out a little bit about the grounds we'll be travelling to next season as well as our previous meetings with each opponent at their ground. All eyes will now be on Fixture Release Day on Thursday 22 June!

The popular Party at the Park, Family Fun Day returns to St James Park on Sunday, July 2 in aid of the TeamEvo vs MND appeal. There will be a full day of activities for the whole family, starting from 11am and running until 6pm. The event is free to attend and open to all and is in partnership with Crealy Theme Park and resort.

Exeter City Football Club confirmed that Kevin McDonald has turned down a new contract with the club. A few days later he signed for Bradford City.

Exeter City were delighted to welcome new stand sponsors Optimising IT to Exeter City Football Club. The company, which is an established IT support services provider, will see its branding on the Adam Stansfield Stand at St James Park.

21st June 2023

22-year-old Vincent Harper from National League side Eastleigh, became the first signing of the Summer. The defender - who can play as a left-back or wing-back - joins on a two-year deal with the option of a third, for a undisclosed compensation fee, after a year-and-a-half with the Spitfires for whom he played 71 times, scoring five goals. "Vincent will wear the prestigious No.31 shirt, thanks to the support of the 1931 Fund."

22nd June 2023 

The Fixture list was announced, "The Grecians will open the season with a trip to Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday, August 5. Last season, Kevin McDonald was on target as we drew 1-1 at Adams Park.  We end the campaign at home to Oxford United, with the season finishing earlier than usual on Saturday, April 27. The U's sealed League One survival late on last season under former MK Dons boss Liam Manning, who was appointed in March."

24th June 2023

Jonathan Grounds will not be returning for the 23/24 season. The experienced defender joined the Grecians in the summer of 2021 and would go on to make 44 appearances in red and white, scoring three goals. Jonathan played a part in City's promotion winning team of 21/22 with his experience and calmness often key in helping City to hold on to a lead.

28th June 2023

Jack Aitchison was signed on a permanent contract. The 23-year-old joins on a two-year deal and links up with the Grecians following his release from Scottish Premiership side Motherwell. Aitchison is a product of the Celtic youth system and in May 2016 became the youngest ever player to represent the Bhoys in a competitive match aged 16 years and 71 days. In scoring in that game, he subsequently became the youngest ever scorer - a record that still stands.

Exeter City confirmed Archie Collins signed for fellow League One side Peterborough United for an undisclosed fee. One of Our Own, Archie ends his City career with 220 appearances and 14 goals. Co-chairman Darragh MacAnthony said on Twitter that the club have paid a "big six-figure fee" for the 23-year-old.

30th June 2023

Josh Coley joined Sky Bet League Two side Sutton United for an undisclosed fee. The 24-year-old joined the Grecians in the summer of 2021 and ends his City career with 35 appearances - 23 of which came in the 2021/22 promotion winning season - and three goals, two of which came against Bristol Rovers in the EFL Trophy in November 2021. Josh's final game in red and white was at Ipswich in the penultimate game of last season. During his time at the club, he also spend time on loan at Harrogate Town.

New Kit for 2023/24 

The new Adidas home and away shirts for the 23/24 EFL Sky Bet League One season have finally been revealed.  The bespoke new kits, provided by the Pro:Direct Clubhouse were revealed at the Party at the Park on Sunday, July 2! The red and white home shirt features those famous adidas stripes on the shoulders and a striking black collar, and proudly display's City's new sponsor HEL. The shirt is paired with black shorts with white stripes on the side and red socks. This season's away shirt is a light grey with white collar and features the pegasus from the City crest. The shirt is paired with grey shorts with white stripes on the side and white socks.

July 4th 2023

Two of City's EFL Trophy Group G fixtures have been confirmed. The Grecians are in a group with Reading, Swindon and Arsenal U21 and the agreed dates are as follows:
Reading (h)  Tuesday 5 September 7pm
Arsenal U21 (h) tbc
Swindon Town (a) Tuesday 21 November 7pm

Exeter City can confirm Josh Key has joined Championship side Swansea City. As Josh is under the age of 24 and a product of Exeter City Academy, the club is entitled to compensation which is yet to be concluded. One of Our Own, Josh joined the Grecians academy in 2015 and would go onto make his first team professional debut three years later in the EFL Trophy against Bristol Rovers. Key's first goal for the club came in the same competition in 2020 against Forest Green, before netting his first league goal a fortnight later at Mansfield Town. Josh ends his City career on 149 appearances and 8 goals, and will always be remembered for the part he played in the 2021/22 promotion winning season. Off the field, community work was a huge part of Key's character, with numerous visits to schools and charities, as well as supporting the club's activities for various causes.

Exeter City confirmed the season-long loan signing of exciting winger Dion Rankine from Premier League side Chelsea. The 20-year-old linked up with the Grecians at the pre-season training camp in Cornwall, and took part in the team’s surfing social at Sennen Cove on Wednesday. City is the first loan move of Barnet born youngster’s career. 

14th July 2023

City midfielder Kyle Taylor has suffered a setback in his return from a serious knee injury, following a separate ankle injury picked up in pre-season training. Taylor was injured in a match at Oldham Athletic in March 2022, rupturing his cruciate ligament and damaging his medial ligament, but had made good progress in his recovery. It was hoped he would play ten minutes during Tuesday's win at Mousehole, but damaged his ankle in Monday's session. 

Exeter City announced the signing of talented midfielder Ryan Trevitt on loan from Premier League side Brentford – our fifth inbound transfer of the summer window. The 20-year-old has won much acclaim at the Bees, having ended last season with 16 goals and nine assists in 27 appearances for Brentford B and going on to wins the club’s Mary Halder Award, which recognises achievements in progression, attitude and professionalism.

Goalkeeper Harry Lee and defender Ed James have joined National League South side Weston-super-Mare on a youth loan through to January 2024.

18th July 2023

Exeter City Football Club has been named as the club with the best record for fan engagement across all the football leagues. The announcement was revealed as part of the Fair Game Index, which looks at all 92 clubs who were in the Premier League and the EFL last season, rating the performance of each on a weighted scoring system based on financial sustainability, governance, fan engagement and equality standards.

19th July 2023

Exeter announced the arrival of Finland international goalkeeper Viljami Sinisalo on loan from Premier League side Aston Villa. The 21-year-old is Gary Caldwell’s sixth summer signing and joins the club for the entirety of the 2023/24 season.

The club confirmed that Jake Caprice has joined Burton Albion on a free transfer.

20th July 2023

We are delighted to announce the signing of midfielder Tom Carroll on a one-year deal. Carroll had been on trial with the club over the last week and has impressed manager Gary Caldwell, who was keen to get the player signed up. The 31-year old has a wealth of experience across the English pyramid, playing almost 100 Premier League matches for Tottenham Hotspur and Swansea City, as well as featuring in the Championship for QPR, Aston Villa and the Swans.
