TIVERTON TOWN HOLD THE CITY.
TIVERTON HOSPITALS CUP.

TIVERTON TOWN 1-1 EXETER CITY 1,

Scorers:
Tiverton Butt
Exeter Morris.

Attendance

Exeter could manage only a draw against Tiverton Town at Ladysmead, Tiverton took a shock lead five minutes before half time when Butt scored with a brilliant glancing header from a free kick, The cheering of the home supporters was soon hushed however, for just two minutes later Steve Morris netted an equaliser after the home keeper had dropped the ball on the goal line. Exeter did not field their full first team, including a couple of St Lukes College players in their side as well as a rather portly Keith Harvey at centre half. The strange looking City XI were content to give Tiverton much of the game after the break and seldom played at any more than half pace.

Exeter player manager John Newman signled out Trout for special praise in a Dawlish side that fought extremely hard but were helped by a series of missed chances by Exeter. BIDEFORD F. C. UNHAPPY WITH EXETER CITY.

Exeter City have received a letter from Western League club Bideford criticising them for including a Bideford professional in their team for a friendly match without first making official contact with the North Devon club. The player, Colin Rowe, 18, who lives in Exeter, was included in the City team that played at Dawlish Town in a friendly nine days ago, It was not until what Bideford secretary Michael Pope describes as an eleventh hour telephone call that Rowe himself made to Bideford manager Graham Bond, that anyone at the club knew he was going to play for Exeter. Bideford have told City that while they welcome the opportunity for their young professionals to gain additional experience, Exeter should have applied for permission in the proper manner.

MONDAY 17th MAY 1971.

FETE HIT BY THE RAIN.

Rain badly dampened the Exeter City Football Club fete at St James' Park held on Saturday. City commercial manager John Hillier said it turned out to be a tragedy due to the weather and that it was a disappointment after the tremendous amount of hard work put into organising it. City will be lucky to break even financially on the days proceedings. The fete included both a 5-a-side and 7-a-side tournament, in which several local Exeter and District League sides played. There was also a fashion show, judo display, pony rides, baby show, and numerous side shows and stalls,
