William Jordan appeared for Exeter City in the interim 1945/46 season when he played 27 games in the two specially-arranged mini-leagues as well as appearing three times in that season’s two-legged FA Cup ties.
Stationed locally with the Army Physical Training Corps, he made his Grecians debut at Swindon Town in August 1945 on the opening day of the season and went on to make 18 appearances in that seaon's Division Three South (South of the Thames) and a further nine in the Division Three South Cup (Southern Section). He also appeared three times in the FA Cup against Trowbridge Town and Newport County.
William also played for City's reserves in 1946/47, even though he was then based in Southport, before subsequently turning out for Prescot Cables.
