OXFORD UNITED LFC V EXETER CITY LFC

Sunday 21 October 2012 Venue:
Oxford United's training ground, Oxford

New signing Tash Knapman made an instant impact on her debut as she scored the equaliser against City's strongest opponents to date. Striker Knapman, signed from Plymouth Argyle earlier in the week, was one of three changes to the City side, with Alex Spencer coming in for Kate Hine at centre-half, and Carla Staddon replacing Leah Brooks in central midfield. Oxford, riding high in the South West Women's Combination League, dominated possession in the first 20 minutes before opening the scoringThey extended their lead shortly before half time with a strike from just inside the box.

Within moments of the second half kick-off Kirsty Caunter's corner was headed home by Lola Garcia-Sanchez, pulling City back into the game. The momentum of the match started to swing City's way and they pushed further and further forward. City upped the tempo and Knapman's shot had the Oxford keeper at full stretch to keep her out. At the other end, City's keeper Maxine Coupe showed her form, pulling off some fine saves. City grew in confidence as the game went on. In the closing moments, a ball from Caunter found Knapman who turned her defender and smashed the ball to the left of the keeper, making it 2-2.

Manager Steve Tully said after the game "It was a hard-fought match, but we always looked to be in the game. I knew at half time we could get something out of it. The girls just needed to believe. It was a great result for us. Tash linked up very well with the other players. I was really pleased with them all."

Final Score
Oxford 2-2 Exeter City
