Match 19
31st March 2013
Swindon Town (h)
SWINDON Town Ladies FC made the long journey down to Exeter on Sunday and put in a great performance to run out 4-2 winners.
Town started superbly scoring after just 35 seconds through an own goal after Chyna Collings’s cross was put through her own net by an Exeter City player. The Ladies then had to play with ten players while Ellie Maynard was being treated for a bad nose bleed but made it 2-0 with a fine strike from Chyna Collings.
The home side pulled one back with a goal from Dani Garland before Catherine Reid put in a fine cross for Lisa Coe to make it 3-1. Exeter did score a penalty dispatched by Kirsty Caunter just before the break to make it 3-2. At the start of the second half Swindon were put under pressure and some fine goalkeeping by Robyn Levett kept them in the game.
Swindon made some changes and started putting pressure back onto Exeter. They then made it 4-2 thanks to Abby Picton.
Manager Glyn Evans was delighted with the win: “It was a well-deserved victory,” he said. “This Sunday the Ladies take on Southampton LFC in the Area Final of the cup. Please come along and support the ladies at The County Ground.”
