DEVON COUNTY CUP FINAL

Exeter City had a Devon County Cup Final clash with Plymouth, who were situated in the women's National Premier League, with City two leagues below in the South West Women's Premier Division. On paper this should have been a walk over for Plymouth!

Plymouth opened the scoring after 15 minutes but City replied with an equaliser, as Lola Sanchez headed home a Catherine Wright corner. Plymouth went ahead again shortly before half time to make it 2-1. City again fought back to level terms, when Natalie Shenton took the ball past three players, before rounding the keeper and slotting the ball into the bottom left corner.

With ten minutes to go, Plymouth again put themselves in front and scored shortly after to make it 4-2. City refused to give up, with Kirsty Caunter clawing a goal back with a fantastic 20 yard strike. Plymouth clung on until the full time whistle to take the title, in an evenly matched and closely fought game.
