Season Summary
2007/08

Exeter City COE were Devon Women's League Cup Winners in 2007. The Centres philosophy aimed to create an atmosphere where the players were comfortable trying things out on the pitch. "It was important that if they fail they do not get despondent if they fail, because they will then stop trying things on the field". The supporters and parents were encouraged to be positive.

Fixture blocked by the FA

The U14 and U16 squads suffered a big disappointment when a three-way fixture that was arranged with the Cornish FA and Norwich City was blocked by the FA at a regional level. The reason given was that Exeter were not a licensed FA Centre of Excellence and therefore deemed "not worthy" to play against licensed centre teams.

The decision made little sense in the South West, other centre's locally were keen to play against Exeter in competitive games, this could have saved them having to travel huge distances to play teams that were no better than Exeter. The club were confused and upset by the FA's decision and made it know. Exeter had the "the suspesion that it may embarras the FA as it would show that City could develop talented players with a programme and ethos that is different than the viewed one size fits all approach that the FA favours.

Exeter had stormed the League last season and were determined to rise through the leagues.
