Devon County FA Cup 2
Totnes and Dartington (h)

Exeter City Ladies FC vs Totnes & Dartington Ladies FC

Due to the horrendous weather conditions, the Topsham Town FC pitch was deemed unplayable and therefore City were forced to find an alternative venue for their second leg of the Devon County Cup. Totnes & Dartington, who City had only beaten 5-4 during pre-season, are in the league above and therefore this was set to be the girlstoughest match to date

City were given the go ahead mid-moming to use their previous home pitch at King George V playing fields, so the venue was changed.

As the game commenced, the heavens opened and within ten minutes the referee had halted play due to the adverse weather.

Play resumed shortly after as the downpour subsided. Moments later and City opened the scoring with striker Carla Staddon (finding herself in the starting line up for the first time this season) slotting the ball confidently past the keeper. City's second followed shortly, when a quick break down the right from City's left back Zoe Kingdom and winger Gemma Ralph ended with a fantastic cross for Staddon to smash home.

A great display of team work followed from CityA defensive header from Centre Half, Jade Maryan, found Kerry Hurley, who played a clever ball down the line to left winger Emma Jones.

Jones controlled the ball well, running inside to lay the ball off for overlapping left back Tamsin Braund to cross first timeKirsty Caunter struck the ball directly into the bottom corner, sending the keeper the wrong way. The final goal of the half came in the form of a wonderful strike from just outside the box by Staddon, to complete her hat-trick. City started the second half strongly and applied further pressure to Totnes & Dartington's defence. City's centre half Kellie

Hall's header found midfielder Naomi Wilkins in plenty of space. Seeing the keeper off her line, and with attacking play being wind assisted in this half, she struck the ball from 30-yards out.. The keeper had no chance and the ball dipped in just below the cross bar to net City's fifth.

Despite conceding a late goal in the closing minutes of the game, City's gave a good performance in difficult conditions.
