South Devonian Liam Cartwright became an Exeter City scholar/trainee on leaving school in 2024.
Liam, a defender from Newton Abbot in the under-16 category, appeared for the under-18s in the opening fixture of the 2023/24 season against Swindon Town. Also featuring as a substitute in the club's FA Youth Cup tie at Hemel Hempstead Town in November 2023, he quickly became a regular member of the team for the remainder of the season and was named 'Under 16 player of the year' by the Senior Reds.
Subsequently becoming a scholar/trainee in July 2024, he featured in the friendly at Okehampton Argyle at the start of August 2024 and - continuing to play for the under-18s - also appeared for the club's under-21s in the Premier League Cup and for the under-17s in the Professional Development Cup.
