James Henderson made a handful of appearances in Exeter City’s final Southern League campaign in 1919/20. Having signed from South Shields, his home town club, he moved on to Caerphilly.
After a short trial he made his debut on Christmas Day 1919 in a Southern League fixture at Plymouth Argyle. Although he was to score three goals (against Southampton, Luton Town and Swansea Town) in six outings, he was released at the end of the season and signed for Caerphilly.
