1908
The City brought off another fine win, their record score of the season. Essa were everywhere outclassed, but are full of pluck. It is a pity, however, that they are so prone to cavil over the referee's decisions. Banks played a sterling game for the City, and in the last twenty minutes the home forwards showed what could be done by a little first-class combination. Final score: 6-1.
1917
Spencer Bassett is killed in WW1 at Arras.
1936
Exeter, who led at the interval by two clear goals, were full value for their point at Selhurst Park. Lowton was a tower of strength in the City defence, while Hurst and McCambridge were dashing and fearless attackers. There were 12,000 spectators.
Palace 2-2 City.
2009
A last-gasp equaliser from Billy Clarke earned a draw for League Two leaders Brentford against automatic promotion rivals Exeter. Exeter had taken the lead when Stuart Fleetwood ran on to a through ball and rounded the keeper before slotting in.
