Biographical Text

Locally-born winger Vic Hoyle made half-a-dozen appearances for Exeter City in the mid-1930s. He later played a similar number of games for Torquay United.

Vic was playing for Exeter City reserves 1935/36 when he was selected for the first-team fixture at Queen’s Park Rangers on 12 October 1935. After soon missing a game, he was back for the match against Cardiff City on 9 November when he scored his only league goal for the Grecians in a 2-0 win. 

Playing just two more league games in March and April 1936, Vic left St James’ Park to briefly play for Dawlish Town ahead of turning out in six league games for Torquay United during 1936/37.

Vic Hoyle died in 1969.
