Exeter City were engaged today in their first Plymouth League match of the season. They had originally picked a strong eleven, but several last minute changes had to be made, with the result that a very weak team left Exeter this morning. Warner is laid up with neuralgia and could not play, while the Battery men, Coates, Chapman, and Pryce, had been forbidden to play for the City by their officers.
2002
A Justin Walker penalty was enough to give Exeter victory in a tense tussle with Orient. City created more than enough chances to win the game but were frustrated by an outstanding goalkeeping display from Glenn Morris.
