On this day in:-

1938 City lose the 1st leg of their 2nd round FA Cup tie 5-1, away, to Newport. Things got worse a week later when they lost 3-1 at SJP and Newport progressed 8-2 on aggregate!

1924 In the FA Cup 5th Round Qualitying match 2nd replay, against Newport played at Ashton Gate, Exeter City won 1-0. The goal was scored by Havold Blackmore, a young centre forward from Silverton who had played for city's reseves; he had travelled to be game with the reserves to watch, and was called from the crowd to play.
