NatWest became the first bank in Britain to form a women’s football team in 1971 in London. In 1976/77 The Devon County Women's League started it’s first competitive season with six teams. They were: Exeter City, West-Exe, Lympstone, Nat.West Bank, Torbay, and Tiverton, Crownhill, Plymouth and Port Royal, Exeter withdrew early in the season.
