The history of Uley Ladies F.C.

In 1975 female employees from R.A.Listers formed a ladies' football team. R.A.Listers sponsored this team known as Listers Ladies who went over to Holland to play a ladies' team. Then as outsiders joined the team, Listers Ladies changed their name to Dursley Ladies who played in the women's western football league. During this time Janet Gingell and Judith Robbins went on a Coaching course. Mike Clarke ran the Uley men's football club in the 1980's and after a meeting with their committee it was suggested that Dursley Ladies amalgamate with the men's teams and become Uley Ladies, thus sharing their pitch and facilities. With the help of the men's team the ladies joined the West Mercian League, where Janet Gingell shared the position of player's player of the year 1980/81
