Chard
Chard Ladies F.C. were formed in 1975 when they entered competitive women's football in the Women's Western League. They transfered to the then Devon League, then the South Western League for the season 1977-78, and were straight away a force to be reckoned with, finishing their first season as League runners-up, and becoming League Champions the following season with a classy side whose greatest strengh was teamwork. In every match, Chard's opposition found themselves facing a well-drilled efficient team in which every player gave maximum effort, and knew their exact role within the team framework.
After their Championship winning season, Chard suffered through the loss of many of their senior players, a blow which may have put less well organised clubs out of business, Chard, however, they slowly gathered in new players and established a reserve side of no mean ability as well as a strong 1st team
