Biographical Text

Jersey-born Fulham midfielder Luke Harris joined Exeter City on loan in January 2024. He had made his Fulham debut during the previous season and, having played for Wales at under-21 level, had also been a member of the full international squad.

Luke, who had been linked with a loan move to the Grecians in August 2023, grew up on Jersey and became a Fulham scholar/trainee on leaving school in 2021. Captaining Wales at under-17 level he soon progressed to the under-19s before making his under-21 debut in 2023. He was also an unused substitute for the full international team on six occasions during 2022 and 2023.

His first-team debut for Fulham came in a EFL Cup tie against Crawley Town on 23 August 2022 and, by the time he arrived on loan at St James’ Park in January 2024, had made seven first-team appearances for the Cottagers (five as substitute) with four coming in the Premier League, one in the FA Cup and two in the EFL Cup. Additionally he had appeared for the club’s under-21 team in the EFL Trophy.

Luke made his Exeter debut in the 2-1 win over Carlisle United on 6 January 2024 and scored his first goal in senior football in the 3-0 win at Shrewsbury Town on 12 March. With further goals against Cheltenham, Port Vale (later selected as the club's goal of the season) and Northampton Town, there was inevitable speculation as to what sort of season Luke may have enjoyed had the club been successful in an earlier August 2023 attempt to secure his signature on loan.

Returning to Craven Cottage, Luke was loaned out to Birmingham City on the eve of the 2024/25 campaign.
