Biographical Text
Charlie Cummins, then aged eighteen, joined Exeter City in January 2024 from Cobh Ramblers on a contract through to the end of the 2025/26 season. After an immediate loan spell at Mousehole, he spent time with Poole Town, Taunton Town and Tiverton Town on a similar basis.
Blarney-raised Charlie had appeared for the Grecians in a behind closed-doors friendly against Southampton shortly before he arrived at St James' Park on a permanent basis. Playing for Blarney United in his younger days, he later switched to Cobh Ramblers' youth programme and made his first-team debut for Ramblers in the League of Ireland against Kerry towards the end of the 2023 season.
After several weeks settling in at City, Charlie joined Mousehole on loan in March 2024 where he remained until the end of the season helping the club reach the play-offs. Subsequently starting his first full season with City, Charlie appeared in the friendly against Tiverton Town on 9 July 2024 and, after other pre-season appearances, was an unused substitute for the EFL Cup game at Walsall in August 2024 and the EFL Trophy against Swindon Town in September 2024. Featuring also in the Devon St Luke's Bowl and for the under-21s in the Premier League Cup, he spent several weeks on loan to Poole Town before returning to City's squad for the EFL Trophy tie at Bristol Rovers at the end of October 2024 ahead of embarking on a further loan with Taunton Town followed by a rather happier similar arrangement with Tiverton Town that saw Charlie score one of the goals that saved Tivvy from relegation on the final day of the non-league season.
Back at St James' Park in time for the end of the EFL season, Charlie was an unused substitute for City's final game of the season at Mansfield Town before finally - after eighteen months with the club and having been an unused substitute on six occasions - making his first-team debut when he came on as a replacement for Pierce Sweeney in the League Cup tie at Cheltenham Town in August 2025. This was followed by his league debut, again as a late substitute, against Wycombe Wanderers ahead of joining Weston-super-Mare in October 2025. Joining a Seagulls' side that was enjoying a good FA Cup run he was one of the goalscorers in the second round victory over Chelmsford City.
