Bideford v City Reserves

CITY RESERVES WIN AT BIDEFORD.

28th August 1939

Exeter City took a strong team to Bideford on Monday, including D. Mortimer, former Bideford Utd. player and defeated the United by 6-2.

Play veered from end to end in the opening stages and after about 15 minutes Bide- ford took the lead through Beer. The visitors immediately took play to the other end and equalised through Hartell. The Grecians dominated play up to the interval and went ahead through Crawshaw.

Exeter were vastly superior to their opponents in the second half and further goals were added through Mortimore (2), Hartell and Windle.

Bideford fought back towards the end and Beer, their best forward, reduced the arrears.
