Badcott, Tony
Tony has had a long and varied association with Exeter City. He started as a 17 year old apprentice groundsman and ended up on the Board of Directors.
In 1983/84 Tony joined the club as an apprentice groundsman under the tutelage of legendary Club Groundsman Sonny Clarke in the year that Gerry Francis was the Manager. After a year at SJP Tony left to become a Head Groundsman at the University of Exeter becoming the Institute of Groundsmanship’s Runner Up in the Young Groundsman of the Year 1985.In 1988/89 Tony re-joined Exeter City as the Head Groundsman. The club finished mid table in Division Four in the first season under Terry Cooper. After another season at the helm Tony left to pursue academic studies which concluded with degrees at the University of Plymouth and a postgraduate teaching qualification at the University of Exeter.
Between the 1990’s and 2000’s Tony was an active volunteer at the club on match days and undertook several roles for a number of years including Turnstile Operator, Programme Seller and Matchday Programme Co-ordinator.
1999 – 2005 Elected Trustee on Trust Board
2004/05 Chairman of ECFC Supporters Trust
2005 Trust appointed Director on Club Board
Oct 2005 500 pounds contributed to Red or Dead Appeal
2010-2011 Set up and managed the Pitch in for City Campaign which raised 125k to lay a new pitch at SJP
