Elaine Davis, an active volunteer and fundraiser from the early days of supporter ownership, was an Exeter City AFC board member between 2014 and 2022.

Originally from Portsmouth, Elaine moved to Exeter in 1980 and watched Exeter City on an occasional basis until becoming a regular supporter twenty years later. Concerned by the state of the club during the John Russell and Mike Lewis era, she became a member of the relatively-new and still small-membership Exeter City Supporters’ Trust and started volunteering. Inspired by the efforts of Dacre Holloway, Elaine helped paint the ground and generally tidy the Cat and Fiddle training ground. Following Dacre’s death, she moved into funding raising by taking over the Grecian Goals competition before organising the efforts to help pay for new floodlighting at St James’ Park.

At the invitation of Laurence Overend - then trust chair - and Julian Tagg, Elaine was co-opted onto the trust board and later served as a club director between November 2014 and December 2022. Also seeking to support the work of the Exeter City Community Trust, she was a member of that organisation’s board between September 2019 and September 2022.

Later an enthusiastic supporter and advocate for the Exeter City Museum Trust, Elaine continued her fundraising efforts with the ‘Kit out the Cliff’ initiative between 2022 and 2023 that aimed to equip City’s expanded Cliff Hill Training Centre. Following this she devoted significant time to raising £25,000 for a ‘recovery room’ - under a pound-for-pound agreement with the club - only to see the club pay the contractors who subsequently failed to undertake the work.            

Undaunted by this, Elaine returned to her work after a short break and organised sponsorship of the Northampton Town match in February 2026 (under the banner of ‘This is OUR club’) on which occasion she was awarded a token of appreciation for all her efforts over the years by trust chair Pete Ferlie.
