Richard Knight became Exeter City's supporter liaison officer in 2012. He was first appointed to the club board in 2015 and - after a break - for a second time in 2025. 

A regular face around the club since childhood, Richard progressed from ball boy through working on the turnstiles and in the refreshment huts to operating the PA system and serving as the football club's company secretary. Richard Knight has been involved with the club since 1965, and is possibly the All time longest serving member of the club. 

With a professional background in banking, school bursar work and charity management, he also took on company administration responsibilities for the museum trust, the City Community Trust, the disabled supporters' association and Exeter City Women.

During his time at St James' Park Richard became involved in the ambassador programme, organising player of the year awards and the EFL's family excellence programme. From 2012 much of his work was consolidated in the role of Supporter Liaison Officer (SLO), a position he was to hold for many years alongside his time as a trustee and club board member. Throughout this period Exeter City regularly won awards for supporter engagement.

​First appointed to the club board in 2015 for a four-year stint, he was elected to the trust board in 2019 taking responsibility for ownership and membership matters whilst also contributing to the club's supporter engagement committee and finance and community work groups. He later re-joined the board of Exeter City AFC in December 2025 whilst stepping aside from his role as a trustee of the supporters' trust three months later.
