Hashtag United FC Women may have only started playing under the name in 2020, but the history of the team takes us back a few years…and several names!  So how did they become Essex’s most successful women’s team, with 5 County Cup wins in 7 years?

The club started in 2004 when a group left Basildon United to form Basildon Town Ladies FC.  Their first competitive season in 2004/05 saw them play in the Essex County Women’s League second division, where they remained until 2008 when they were promoted as runners-up.  By then, one team had become three, with reserve and U15 teams having been added.  A name change to C&K Basildon followed in 2007/08, and a year later the club won its first trophies, with the U15 and senior teams both winning their cup finals on the same day, the latter beating champions Hannakins 2-1 at Maldon Town FC.
