Biographical Text
Frankie Phillips, an 18-year-old goalkeeper from the Bristol area, joined Exeter City on a one-year contract in July 2024. He had most recently played for Paulton Rovers where his impressive performances had led to him signing a contract.
Son of former Bristol City and Bristol Rovers goalkeeper Steve Phillips, Frankie had caught the attention of Liverpool whilst he was at primary school in Cheshire in the days when his father was with Crewe Alexandra. Then, with the family's return to the West of England, he took up an academy place with Southampton where he remained until the age of sixteen. Quickly moving into adult football after not being offered a scholarship/traineeship, Frankie had spells with Chilcompton Sports, Bristol Manor Farm, Welton Rovers and Paulton Rovers before arriving at St James' Park.
With City keen on him continuing to gain experience, Frankie was soon appearing in pre-season games for Exmouth Town who he was to join on loan initially until January 2025.
