Frank Newcombe joined the Exeter City board in 1935 as part of an influx of fresh faces.

The proprietor of an electrical sales business on North Street, Mr Newcombe had helped introduced cable radio systems to the city in the early 1930s through his Exeter Radio Exchange Company. Already taking an interest in the activities of the Exeter City Supporters' Club, he was one of nine newcomers to the board members appointed in 1935.

Frank Newcombe, who also served on the BBC's regional advisory committee, died in Exeter in 1956 aged sixty-six.
