Biographical Text

Nineteen-year-old forward Amani Richards joined Exeter City on loan from Leicester City soon after the start of the 2024/25 season and made half-a-dozen league appearances before returning to his parent club.

Amani, who had signed for Leicester City at the age of seventeen in January 2022, had been featuring for his club's under-21 team (including a goal-scoring appearance against Burton Albion in the EFL Trophy) when he arrived at St James' Park towards the end of August 2024 having recently signed a contract extension with the Foxes through until the end of the 2026/27 season after reportedly attracting the interest of a number of other clubs. Originally from London, he had previously been on the books of both Chelsea and Arsenal and had represented England at under-16 level whilst at school.

Involved with the first team as soon as he signed, Amani made his debut as a second-half substitute in City's 2-0 win at Bolton Wanderers on 31 August 2024 and scored his only goal for the Grecians in the 1-0 win at Leyton Orient on 1 October 2024. Thereafter featuring just twice, Amani returned to Leicester City in the middle of January 2025 and did not feature in senior football again during the remainder of the campaign.
