Biographical Text
Don Peattie a traillist from Sheffield United, was named as a substitute for a hastily-arranged friendly between Exeter City and Watford on 15 February 1986.
Born in Yorkshire - but raised in Dumfries - he had been with Gretna, then of the (English) Northern League, prior to signing for Sheffield United in August 1984 together with team mate Russell Black who also featured for the Grecians against Watford.
Making three league starts for the Blades (plus another two appearances from the bench), Don then turned out four times for Doncaster Rovers when on loan in January 1986 before arriving at St James’ Park.
With nothing coming from his time with the Grecians, his professional career was over and he played in non-league football with Newcastle Blue Star and North Shields before becoming a college lecturer in the Sunderland area and later working in the academy of Sunderland AFC.
