Pryde, David
David Pryde was assistant trainer at Exeter City from 1959 to 1961. The day his weeks notice expired in May 1960 Exeter City reserve team trainer David Pryde "was engaged again by the club. Pryde was given the sack as part of the economy drive, But City directors now realise that they might have acted with too much haste. They did not realise that trainer Eddie Nash would not be able to cope with all the work. He could be away with the first team on many occasions and that would not leave anyone at St James's Park to look after the full time men during the day and part time men two or three evenings a week."
David Pryde was born in Midlothian Scotland and started playing football as an amateur at Margate in 1935. He was then signed by Arsenal and loaned back out to Margate for another two seasons, before returning to Arsenal and taking his place in the club's reserves. He made his first-team debut against Sunderland in February 1939. His career was interrupted by World War 2. He joined the RAF and also played wartime games for Arsenal. He left Arsenal in 1946 at the age of 32, moving to Torquay United, where he spent four seasons there, making 64 league appearances, before retiring in 1950 from playing.
David Pryde died in 1987
