A high cross wind was blowing throught the game, to a certain extent spoiling the play, St Sidwells facing the slope, were on the defensive for most of the first half, one goal was scored by Dawlish before haf time, although it should never have been allowed, as Simmoonds was standing in an offside position when he kicked the ball through. The Referee however, allowed the goal, because in his opinion it had been touched by an Exonian before it had reached Simmonds, Winter should have scored for the United in this half, but allowed himself to be tobbed by O'Neill when he was clean through, At the commencement of the 2nd half, and for some 20 minutes thereafter, Dawlish attacked persistently and at length Simmonds beat Robinson for the 2nd time.
